This past week, we have been extremely busy working to fulfill Elizabeth's Dream Day. We have had to make many phone calls with her mom who has been extremely helpful throughout the process. This past Saturday, we were able to take Elizabeth on her dream day. This consisted of a shopping spree to some of her favorite stores including Macy's, Old Navy, and Victoria Secret. We started our journey at the food court. Her mother tagged along for the ride, and was so helpful throughout the journey. We ate at Chick-fil-a, and Elizabeth enjoyed some Auntie Annes. We talked for a while as we ate, and Grace and I were able to understand what Elizabeth was looking for. After eating, we decided to go to Macy's. Our gift card was for $50; therefore, we were able to keep our options open. After looking in many different departments, we found the perfect backpack. Elizabeth loved it, and she is already excited to use it for next year. Our next stop was Old Navy. Here, we looked at many different clothing items. We ended up getting Elizabeth an entire outfit with only a $40 gift card. Elizabeth loved everything she was able to purchase here, and we are very grateful for Old Navy's generous donation. Our last stop was Victoria Secret. We wheeled Elizabeth there, and although we may have gotten lost, I never saw a smile leave her face. She was always so positive and excited to go into the next store. Once we entered Victoria Secret, we looked around at many of the clothing items. One thing caught our eye right away because we knew it would be perfect for Elizabeth. It was an extremely soft shirt, and Elizabeth loved it. After shopping there, we met Elizabeths mother outside the store. We were extremely blessed to have the opportunity to make Elizabeths dream day come true, and we hope it is a day that she will never forget. Furthermore, we are now planning the dream day of Kameron, Cameron, Dylan, and Dwayne. We are planning on taking the dos to Great Times this upcoming Saturday. Luke and Alex will be joining us as well so we are extremely excited to see how it goes!

We are extremely excited because Jill, Jenny, and Addy's dream day is right around the corner. Because we are doing three girls at a time, a lot of planning has been put into this. We have been in contact with Mrs. Amones quite frequently trying to figure out the specifics. We had to contact the parents as well and try and figure out sizes. We also talked to a friend that said she would help us with the makeup. As of right now, we plan on meeting the girls at Studio 52 around 1:00. They will be getting their hair, nails, and makeup done. The girls will then put on dresses and we will have a photoshoot. We have also been in contact with Mrs. Pratt and Mrs. Hurst while trying to figure out what the girls will wear. A few months ago, there was a dress drive, and they are letting us borrow a few for this upcoming dream day. We went to the middle school and grabbed about ten dresses of all sizes and colors for the girls to try on. Throughout this process everyone has been extremely helpful which we are extremely thankful for. While we have been planning this dream day, we also brainstormed for the boys at NPJH. We decided that it would be fun if all of the boys had a day to hang out together as well. Everyone agreed on an arcade; therefore, we have decided to take the four boys to Great Times. We first tried to plan a trip to Main Event Entertainment, but unfortunately, that did not work out due to costs and availability. We are unsure when we will go at the time; however, once the girls' dream day is over, we will figure out the details. Once again, we are super excited for this upcoming Saturday, and can't wait to take amazing photos of the girls!
This week, we had the opportunity to go to the Junior High. We were able to get to know the students with disabilities. All of the students were super excited when we introduced them to the idea of dream day. There are three female students who all would love to have a makeover. They are wanting to get their nails, makeup, and hair done. There is also Cam who would love to go go-carting. Kameron was interested in cookies and canvas. Dwayne informed us that he loves horses and monster trucks. Lastly, Dylan expressed his joy for arcade games. The possibilities are endless with these wonderful students. We are going to start off with the three girls- Jenny, Jill, and Addie. We are going to try and contact beauty places to see if they could offer a discount for our project. We are also going to try and get some dresses, with the help of the dress drive, for the girls to try on. We are hoping to plan the best day possible for these three students so we also found out their favorite actives along with their favorite colors and favorite food. We discovered that Frozen was very popular within the group; therefore, we may try to incorporate that within their beauty day. In the end, we are so excited to get started with the next group of kids, and with the help of Mrs. Amones, It's going to be a lot of fun!
This weekend we were able to make Chases dream day come true! It took place on Sunday, January 27. Grace, Victoria, and I took Chase and his friend Blake to Main Event Entertainment. We left around 10:30 and then asked the boys where they wanted to eat. They both decided on Mcdonalds... of all places. So... thats where we went! We all got some food and then went on our way. We arrived at Main Event around noon, and we went bowling first. Thanks to Clair, who helped us along the way, we were able to bowl for an hour for free. The boys loved it, and we all had a blast. After bowling, we were able to play arcade games for an hour. These games were like no other. There was all sorts of games including virtual reality, dance games, car games, and everything else you can think of. The day was filled with laughter and fun. When we left, Chase continued to ask when we could go back. He especially loved bowling and wanted to do it again with us in the future. Without dream day, I wouldn't be as close with these students, and I wouldn't get to experience all of the laughter and amazing times they bring into my life. I am extremely blessed to be a part of this progam and can't wait to make another students dream day come true! After awaiting a response from Main Event for a few weeks, we decided to call again. We spoke to Claire once again who was very excited to hear from us. We updated her on what we were planning with Main Event Entertainment, and she was very helpful. We gave her some possible dates and together, we decided on January 27th. She is allowing Grace, Victoria, and I to take our two peers (Blake and Chase) to Main Event entertainment for free. Main Event is covering our costs. We will be able to bowl and play arcade games for two hours. I reached out to Blake and Chases parents, and we are currently waiting for a response from Chase. Blake is allowed to go. We still have to plan where we would like to eat along with a few minor details with timing. We are very grateful for this opportunity and to Claire with this organization.
After planning this trip, we realized that we were running out of peers to do dream days with at the high school. We decided it would be best to reach out to the intermediate school with the 7th and 8th graders. We got in contact with Mrs. Amons, the recourse teacher there, and she invited us to come to her school and talk. We made a trip to the intermediate school and talked about possible students we could work with in the future. We were fortunate enough to meet some of these students and talk to them for a while. This opened up a lot of opportunities for future dream days and we are very excited to now work with another school. As our last two dream days came to an end, we decided to move on to Chases dream day. Chases told us that he enjoyed arcade games, bowling, and music. From this, we did some research and found the perfect place. This place was called Main Event Entertainment. Here they have bowling, lazor tag, arcade games, and more. We went on their website and left them a message. A few days later we heard back from Claire Miller via email. She told us that she would love to discuss details. Therfore, we called Claire the next day and talked to her about our Dream Day. Claire told us that it sounded amazing, and she would talk to her manager about it and get back to us as soon as possible. While this was happening, Grace and I talked to Chase about inviting a friend, and he was very excited. He told us that he wanted Blake to join him. We sent information home to Chase and hoping to make this happen soon!
This week, we received our tickets for the "All in Tour" in the mail! While waiting anxiously for the concert to approach, we decided to begin out next dream day- Blake. Blake LOVES tacos. He loves eating, talking about, and looking at them. When you ask him a question, his response will have something to do with tacos most likely. Therefore, we decided his dream day had to be a TACO PARTY! When we mentioned that to Blake, his face lit up. We asked him dozens of questions in order to figure out exactly what he wanted. We figured out that Blake loves everything chocolate... chocolate icing, chocolate cake, and chocolate candies. From there, we made a grocery list and began brain storming fun ideas. We came up with a few games that we wanted to play including: pin the tale on the donkey, a treasure hunt, and hot potato. We also bought a taco piñata and a stuffed animal taco for the students; it was perfect! We organized a schedule so that we would have time to fit in all of these activities and eat. We are also preparing taco designed chocolate cupcakes for the party because that is what Blake asked for. Blake's classmates will all be invited to the party as well. We are going to play Spanish music throughout the party and have a sombrero hat for Blake to wear around. Throughout the week, we have made decorations including a donkey, and a sign that states "Taco Bouta Party!" We first planned on having this party earlier this week; however, due to a conflict in our lab schedule, we had to rearrange. This taco party is now going to take place on November 13, which is Tuesday of next week. In order to prepare, we will cook all of the meet the night before and then place it in a crock pot. We will come in during lab and set everything up for the party in fourth period! We are extremely excited to take on the taco party and the concert next week and can't wait to see where our next dream day will take us!
